About The Maker

I’m Hugo Austin, a cabinetmaker and furniture maker by trade, with a deep respect for solid timber and fine veneered work. I am based on the North end of the Sunshine coast. For me, timber has always been about understanding the material and letting it speak through the finished piece. An approach that carries through every board I build.

I’ve been making timber surfboards for over 10 years and have shaped more than 450 boards from 5 foot through to 12 foot. Belly boards were a huge part of the early days, and I’ve lost track of how many hundreds have been made. They formed the foundation of the business and the direction it would take.

Timber boards allowed me to build surfcraft without relying on harmful foams, resins or chemicals, something that mattered deeply, especially with a young family around the workshop. Everything is handmade on the Sunshine Coast from start to finish, with no outsourcing or mass production. Each board is unique, built to last, and designed to be easily repaired and ridden for years.

In 2023, we put the business on hold to travel Australia as a family. After returning and spending time in the caravan industry, the pull to get back into the workshop never left. In 2026, we made the decision to return and rebuild the brand bigger, better, and more intentional than ever.

Custom orders are at the heart of what I do. Every build starts with a conversation and results in a one-off board made specifically for how and where you surf.
